Sad Cry Cry and Cry some more...

I am getting so frustrated with TTC! I waited patiently for my m/c and everything to pass in order to ttc again. I have had three periods since the m/c in March. I went to an infertility specialist at Luther Middlefort and had all of my records from when we were seeking help in 2006 (before the move and tranfer at work). The NP advised me that they want to REDO the HSG and all tests. We spent a lot of money and time with those tests when we were seeking help before and my medical records specifically state that we have decided to wait to ttc, but when we decide to try again immediately go on clomid and progesterone for LPD.

So, I was okay with the first meeting, but I was still a little frustrated with having to start over. THey want to monitor a cycle before anything. My frustration is that we have a wedding the weekend that I should be at CD3 and need my lab work, and then on CD15 we have a vacation planned that we have had planned since February. Then, the following month we have a little vacation planned for our anniversary, and the month after that I will be away for work. When I called to explain my frustration (trying to hold back tears) she explained that we have a plan in order and even if we have to wait 6 months to get going we can still keep to or plan!!!!!!!!!! I got a little short with her and explained that we have been waiting for years to TTC and had I known that it would have been this difficult to continue with my original doctor's plan we would have just kept going, but we had some major life changes taking place and we agreed that it would be best to hold off. She did not understand where I was coming from at all and actually recommended I cancel out vacations to monitor a cycle. I hung up and fell to the floor in the middle of the kitchen and cried, and cried, and cried some more.

I then called my old doctor that had suggested that I start back on clomid and progesterone (my doctor was on vacation this week, but I talked with her nurse). I asked for her advice and she directed me to another doctor in the area and suggested I take my notes and organize my thoughts and explain that I do not want to go through the expensive and some even painful tests that we have already done. I do not want to waste anymore time, and explain my frustrations.

Thank you for reading my VENT. Do any of you have similar experiences or advice???? I am so exhausted and sad.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Although I for one have no advice, I just wanted to send some your way.

We didn't make it as far as infertility testing so I don't know what you're going through on that front, but it did take us 13 months so I know the heartbreak and struggle.

It sounds to me like you've not been comfortable with this other doctor since the first visit. Because of that I would suggest you find a new doctor.

How long have you been actively TTC? Has any of the doctors been able to tell you what's preventing you from conceiving and carrying a baby to term? Have they put your hubby through infertility testing?

We have been TTC on and off (off from Sept 2006-June/July 2007) since Jan 2005. I have had an HSG, Labrascopy and Hysteroscopy and tried Clomid and progsterone for a few months before the laprascopy/hysteroscopy. They found endometriosis and removed it all. They also determined that I have a Luteal Phase Defect. In my doctor's notes it specifically said I should go on clomid and progesterone right away when we want to ttc. Now the NP at the new place want to start completely over since it has been almost 2 years since we left off. I did not have the notes and we just went off B/C and it took us 7 months to concieve. Unfortunately, we lost the baby and I was also extremely low on progesterone and bleeding. I had no idea I was pregnant until I stated to question my 10 day long period. I wonder if I had taken care of LPD if that would have worked out.

I'm sooooooooo sorry you have to go through all this
I wish I could help you out in some way the only thing I know to do is to be there for ya and send you lots of .
I know some people like that nurse dont understand you have other things going on in your life that are just as important as TTC and she should understand you went through a rough time with your MC and your trying to get your body and mind rested and ready to start over again and you need to go at your own pace and your not made of money. I dont get why they cant just use your most recent information anyway, well no I know why... they want that MONEY for new test ( I cant stand money hungry doctors ).
I hope you can find a caring doctor who will take the time to listen and understand what you have been through and be willing to work with you after all thats what a good doctor should do.

I wish you all my best..

Well, if someone told me I had to repeat the HSG I'd probably cry because I thought that hurt like crazy! Do they want to repeat the Lap? I can completely understand them wanting to at least repeat your bloodwork. I switched clinics when we were TTC#2 and they wanted to repeat the HSG but I told them no, only blood work, since we had already gotten pregnant with clomid/progesterone. They did have my DH repeat all of his testing. We ended up switching back to our original clinic, they let us cycle right away because we had all of the blood results ect that we just repeated, otherwise, they would have asked us for the same repeats since it had been a while since we were TTC.

This is tough, but in the long run, one more month really doesn't mean much. I know that's easier said than done, because I've been in your shoes (having to wait after m/c and CDs to start, ect ect), and every DAY feels like an eternity, but being on this end and and looking back, I could understand why they needed new blood work ect.

If you switch Drs, you'll still be waiting for an appt. You might as well knock out whatever bloodwork you can now, you can always transfer the results. I guess repeating the HSG is up to you, like I said, I told them no, because that was never even a question as to why we couldn't get and stay pregnant.

Was your old Dr a RE or an OB? I think that has a lot to do with it also. My friend did the HSG with her OB and when she switched to an RE they had her repeat everything.

Also, could you try asking the NP if they'd be willing to let you take two weeks of extra BCP pills, the hormone ones? THat could hold your period off until you were back from everything, and then you'd only really be waiting two extra weeks.

The doctor is an OB. The old doctor was also an OB. Totally different health care networks though. One thing that made me a little skethy was the NP kind of down talked the other doctor and critized her for how she did things when she was half way reading the notes. I made sure they had my records prior to my appt and they never even look through them until I was there. In fact they looked at my copy I had brought and never made an effort to go get the faxed copy I had sent 2 weeks prior. I do have an appt with a highly recommended doctor at another location next Wed (they had an opening b/c of cancellation). This is the doctor that my old OB from home had recommended (my insurance did not cover him last year when I was setting up my appt, so I did not think to check again).

Anyway, my initial doc back home said that they may want to repeat lab work, but other than that I should explain that I have already spent money and time getting these other tests done and out of the way and I do not wish to repeat them unless he has a valid reason. She seems to think he will be fine with that. We shall see. I am just nervous about if he wants to monitor a cycle and we will be away during the important parts the next 2-3 months with weddings, vacations, and work. I just want to get going.....grrrr! Thank you all so much for your support and advice. It is so much appreciated.

I will let you know how everything goes!!

I am sorry that you are going through all of this. I hated have the HSG done. So I totally understand the frustations on that. The only blood work I had to have done was for my blood suger to see if it was at the level the dr wanted it to be at before staring the chlomid. Hang in there hun. with your new dr.

Can you forgo the clomid and just concentrate on the progesterone? At least have it on hand so that if you happen to conceive, say, while on vacation that you're set and already to go? If you're doctor won't do that run...don't walk...out of their office and don't look back.

Question UPDATE!!

So, I had a few options.
1. Go to Luter Middlefort and redo most if not all of the tests and procedures that I have already done. This next cycle would be monitored and possible HSG.
2. Go to the doctor my old Specialist advised I see and explain that I would like to start off where I left off and hope he allows me to start where we left off.
3. Go to Marshfield Clinic and have an ultrasound on CD3 and possibly start clomid this week (IF I get AF as predicted tomorrow or Wednesday). This would be with an OBGYN that I had seen during the course of our MC. He has done some infertility work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts are to go with 3 and get this show on the road and if that does not work, then go to the doctor my old specialist recommended. I am so confused. I REALLY want to get this going and every month seems like forever (I know you all know what I am saying). I just feel like if it is a simple fix for LPD why not just nip it in the butt and get er done (sorry, my redneck self is coming out!!).

Thoughts???? Comments?? What would YOU do??

I would not go with the OB because most RE's (and OB's) limit the number of clomid cycles you can do,so if you do a couple with the OB and don't get pregnant, when you see the RE they may say you are out of clomid cycles and then you'd have to move on to injectables. Or, if you do go with the OB, also start lining up the appt with the RE so after this cycle you can move right over.

Do you have any IF coverage? Mine never covered meds (even progesterone, which I never understood), but they did cover blood work and a certain number of IUI's.
