New to MLB TTC#1

Hi, I'm celestialalyce I'm new to MLB. DH and I have been TTC #1 for 5 years...
I guess I'll just spill my story here, I'm not sure how to ease into it... The first couple years we thought everything was normal, but then after an early pregnancy miscarriage it became clear to us that something must be wrong. We found out that due to an operation I had when I was a baby(removal of a cancerous tumor in the bladder, also treated with chemo) that my tubes were blocked with scar tissue. I had an HSG and during that it looked like the blockage in one of my tubes was pushed out, but the doctor is still saying that tube is 'problamatic', and it must be because that was a year ago and still no BFP. Our doctor has reccommeded IVF with a 5 day blastocyst transfer of 2 eggs, which we plan to do. The problem now is, we never expected something like this, so we don't have that kind of money and things are on hold until we save it up. So that's my story, such as it is.

I apologize if I sound moody, but it's the CD1 and it always makes me sad.

Hi

celestialalyce - welcome to the boards! My advice is to go talk to an RE about the financial assistance for IVF. There are alot of programs out there to help w/the costs and also you should find out if your RE's office is going to be doing any special studies with IVF patients and you may get into one of them at virtually no cost. There is hope out there.. just be patient!

Welcome to MLB

Sorry things have been so difficult for you!
I guess insurance isn't helping you out any with this, huh?
Is the doctor you're talking about an RE?

Yes, he is an RE. I really like him a lot. When we told him about the financial situation he did say that he would be able to help out with the prescriptions, they accept donations from other patients who have some they didn't use. We have pretty good insurance (which we pay dearly for!) and they cover about 50% of IVF but have a limit of two cycles.

Thanks everybody for the welcome!!!

Welcome! I am sorry you've had such a hard time And I know exactly what you mean about not having the money for infertility treatment Our insurance won't cover us at all if they find out we are getting treatment, so our doctor has to be creative in coding

But that is great that they'll pay 50% for two IVF! I hope you're able to take advantage of that soon!

I am sorry you have to go through all of this. It is hard. I am glad that your insurance will pay 50% our insurance won't do anything like that.
