This sounds great! I've been wanting to try Bare Minerals too, but that price...ouch. Shayne, how much is the Avon stuff?

Ooooo this is an old topic but I have been wanting to rty Bare Minerals for the longest time. I saw a commercial for the Loreal stuff and though *uhh huh* but I could give it a shot ... if Avon has one, I am so there! I'm a an Avon make up girl! I just stock up so much on my washes from them, I dont need to order often

I have been using the knockoff versions too, although I started out with the bare minerals / Bare essentials whatever its called kit at first, then switched to save money. I still like the Bare minerals best because it has more of a "shimmer" to it ( some people dont like that) ( finally sucked it up and bought more) But the bare minerals and other similar versions at the drugstores are the only make up I have ever used that DONT make me break out!

Okay, ladies, a year later and I feel I need to update!
I IMPLORE you to look into Joppa Minerals. Matt bought me Bare Minerals for Christmas. The starter kit. I really liked the Mineral Veil...but I ended up going back to L'Oreal for the foundation part after my Bare Minerals ran out. Then a friend send me a link to Joppa's stuff. Joppa Minerals is a FAR superior product in every way. I know someone mentioned in this thread the importance of a good brush when it comes to applying any mineral foundation--and that is absolutely RIGHT! I bought two brushes from Joppa and I also bought their version of Mineral Veil--called "Finishing Powder" and I like it much better. The woman that owns it is really just starting out, the company isn't very old. She personally wrote to me when I placed my order and threw in some samples for me as well when I mentioned I was not sure about color. The brushes I bought were the Ultimate Kabuki for my foundation, and the Powder/Buffer for the finishing powder. My Kabuki brush is SO soft!! It makes a huge difference when you put the foundation on. Priscilla mentioned that the L'Oreal made her itch--ITA!!! It was that awful built-in brush, though, that made me itch. Once I applied the L'Oreal with the Joppa brush, no problem whatsoever. So there ya go. My commercial for Joppa.  Seriously though, I am hooked.

For those of you who are oily, I can recommend a great product. A friend of mine sells Mary Kay, and she turned me onto their oil mattifier. You just rub some onto your nose/forehead/whatever and it keeps the oil under control.
Oil Mattifier I have also been using their mineral powder and am no longer using any kind of liquid foundation. It's fantastic. I powder my nose once a a day around 3:00 and that's it! Mary Kay® Mineral Powder Foundation
