Three Prayers
It never rains, but it pours: I have three prayer requests for family members, should anyone feel so inclined.
My aunt was taken in blinding pain to the hospital last night. Apparently her chronic back troubles were really bone cancer: there are several tumors along her spine. There are also tumors in a breast. It is very likely the cancer, then, has metastasized, which brings her chance of survival down a great deal. Pray for her and her husband, but also for her mother, as this is my grandma's baby and the one who calls her every day. Pray for me, as well, as this is devastating to me -- I am very close to this aunt. Pray for my unborn baby, that he isn't harmed while I'm stressing about this. (Stress about stressing. How stupid is that?) My grandmother on the other side will have surgery on a cancerous lump on one of her lungs this week. It has every chance of success, but it is still a surgery. My sister-in-law just had a miscarriage at five weeks. It was early, and it happens, but prayers to speed her healing are appreciated.

Hugs and prayers for you and your loved ones. My Mom also thought she had chronic back pain and it wasn't until they found the lung cancer that they found the bone cancer in her spine. I pray it has spread too much and treatment will put her in remission at the least.
I know it is hard when you are so worried about loved ones to take care of yourself but you need to make sure you rest and take care of your bean. If you need help speak with your ob/gyn. My Mother died when I was 8 months pregnant and my ob gave me meds to help me.

Thanks, everyone, for your prayers and advice. This week has turned out for the best, considering how it started. My sister is bouncing back rapidly, and will be trying again for a baby next month. My grandmother had her operation and is recovering nicely. My aunt found out she has stage IV breast cancer, but that the lesions were entirely pieces of breast cancer which had broken off and gone to her spine -- they were not new forms of cancer on other parts of her body. There was also no cancer in any of her organs. She is responding well to radiation and hormone therapy (preferable to traditional chemo in these cases) and may move to outpatient services as early as the end of the week. The odds are still against her, statistically speaking, but as she says, she knows where she's going if she dies. The nurses say she's the most cheerful person in the ward.
I have had several painful Braxton-Hicks contractions from the stress. Fortunately, another aunt is a delivery nurse who has been giving me advice via Facebook. I just hope she doesn't mind that some of my extra fluids are coming from Graeter's milkshakes!
