Lisa - That's how Scott was. He NEVER believed me when I told him certain things were high calorie until he looked them up on the Internet. He was SHOCKED! I think that having the calories posted kind of "in your face" is a good reality check for most people. For example, based on my size I'm only allowed about 1400 calories a day in order to "maintain". There are meals at some restaurants that far exceed that in ONE MEAL! If these restaurants would cut the portions to appropriate sizes, the calories would be less and maybe they wouldn't have to be so concerned about posting them! One comment that bothered me was from the Outback guy saying that the Bloomin' Onion was over 2000 calories, but it's meant to be shared between 2-3 people so it's okay.

In what world is 1000 (or even nearly 700) calories okay for an appetizer? Every once in a while? Sure!
I think that this is especially great for those who eat at restaurants regularly.
