Now, that was eye-opening and tear-inducing.
Mom and I joined Curves and today was our first workout and measurement etc. appt. Wow, I won't even tell you the numbers because I honestly can't believe them. BUT the scary part is this - I am about .2 from being VERY POOR for my overall fitness level. Yes, my overall fitness is POOR. I knew it was bad, but I really didn't expect that bad.
I don't want to set that example for my kids.
I want to have energy to play with them vs. just laying on the floor while they play. :(
My kids deserve the best Mommy I can give them and *I* deserve a healthy, fit body. How else am I going to make it to 100?
Very eye-opening and very depressing at the same time. BUT also very motivating.
So when was the last time you really looked at yourself? Maybe it's time.....

probably in college. I know I'm lazy, and I need to change my habits majorly. I'd like to think I am an active person hiding underneath...but it's so hard.

Almost every freakin' time I went to the doctors, which was quiet frequently after the baby was born I was poked and prodded and my weight checked because I was losing it so fast it was scaring my NP. I know being thin doesn't make you automatically healthy but I try on a daily basis to get up and moving and have tried to make better choices eating wise.

I started the whole exercise/fitness routine 4 months ago. I have been weighing and measuring my body since then. I've never had my fat level or physical levels checked though.
I know I am improving though. Thank goodness!

yes, granted I just had a baby... but I know that when I got pregnant I had just decided that I really needed to step up my exercise/health regime so I know in a few weeks here I'll be trying to get back into "active mom" mode again.

Lacey- Just curious but how did they measure you and what "stats" did they go by to tell you that you are in very poor shape? I'm curious what their standards are and if they are ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) standards or they're own. Trainers at places like 24 Hour Fitness and Curves typically are not trained through college courses and the only really certificate they have is through 24 hour training programs.

I can't believe, seeing pics of you and knowing how active you are, that you would truly be that low. I wonder if they are trained to evaluate people as bad as possible when they join to entice them to stay. KWIM? I would trust an evaluation done by a dr more, since he/she doesn't have a vested interest in you thinking you're in bad shape and need the help of Curves.

We did measurements and based upon my height, weight and body composition, well - I'm a fat cow.
No seriously though, I *know* I'm in bad shape. My heart rate shoots up at the drop of a hat. I used to be in probably average shape when I was thinner, but even thin, I wasn't 'fit'.
I held a body fat sensor thingy where you plug in sex, weight, height and it sends whatever pulse through you to determine body fat. Based upon that #, we then looked on a scale that showed your level of fitness.
I don't doubt it at all.

I never did answer your question... I think the last time I did anything like that was with YOU when we joined the gym at The Associates. How long ago was that? 12-13 years? So, yup - it's about time for a new evaluation! Since I'm not joining a gym anytime soon, I guess I'll have to keep guessing!

I was practically forced to have a physical yesterday by my insurance company, in order to keep certain aspects of our coverage. They poked, measured and screened things on me I didn't know were possible to reach. Luckily all of my results/numbers were a lot better then I expected them to be. My body fat percentage and BMI are low, but I still need to workout more and try to eat healthier, because I don't feel healthy, I just feel thin and weak.
