MrsLiberty's Healthy Lifestyle Plan

I, Joanna (aka mrsliberty), am on a healthy lifestyle plan. I pledge to keep myself honest on this plan for the next 9 days.

I pledge to do the following:

1. Keep under 1550 cal per day.
2. Exercise 5 times this week.
3. Take my supplements or medications each day.
4. Drink at least 8 10-oz bottles of water a day.
5. I will not eat any junk food, only wholesome snacks.
6. I will watch my portion sizes and use the palm of my hand as a guide.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sunday ~ Day 1 ~ September 16, 2007

Breakfast: Eggo waffle, pancake syrup, hard boiled egg, yogurt and orange juice
Lunch: Egg salad on 1/2 plain bagel with Miracle Whip
Dinner: 2 small tortillas (homemade, slightly lower fat), 2 oz ground beef, 1/2 cup chopped tomato, 2 T refried beans, 1 oz shredded cheddar cheese
Snacks: n/a
Water: 5 10-oz
Exercise: 1 hour 20 min heavy cleaning, 20 min gardening
Medication/Supplements: 2 doses cold medicine
Calorie, Carb, and Fat Intake: 1224 cal/142 carb/50 fat/53 protein
Thoughts for the Day: I will be happy to be thin again so I won't have to worry about my thighs chafing.
Expectations not met: Not enough water drank

Monday ~ Day 2 ~ September 17, 2007

Breakfast: Eggo waffle, hard boiled egg, 1 c water pack canned peaches (home canned)
Lunch: 1/3 can tuna with yellow mustard, 1/2 plain bagel, 1/2 can peas
Dinner: 2 c spaghetti pasta, 1 c Ragu spaghetti sauce, 2 slices garlic bread, 1 breadstick
Snacks: 6-oz Strawberry Yogurt, 3 c homemade oil-popped popcorn
Water: 8 glasses
Exercise: 20 minutes on elliptical + one round on strength training machines
Medication/Supplements: 3 doses cold medicine
Calorie, Carb, or Fat Intake: 1995 cal/284 carb/60 fat/82 protein
Thoughts for the Day: Change does not happen instantaneously.
Expectations not met: Caloric intake and carbs too high.

Tuesday ~ Day 3 ~

Breakfast: Plain bagel with preserves, 1 c black coffee
Lunch: 3 fish sticks with tartar sauce
Dinner: Lemon pepper chicken, small baked potato with sour cream and chives, broccoli with cheese
Snacks: Plain bagel with preserves, broccoli with cheese
Water: 4
Exercise: 30 minutes housework
Medication/Supplements: none
Calorie, Carb, and Fat Intake: 2193
Thoughts for the Day: Testing limits and ensuring that I will not fail is most important.
Expectations not met: Way off the board today. First of all, I was seriously craving the fish, and I knew I had bought some last time we went to the grocery, so I didn't want to not eat any. I was just going to eat 2, but... I also knew I shouldn't have the good stuff on the baked potato or the cheese on the broccoli, but too bad! If a diet is just going to be deprivation, then it's not going to work. So one day I slip. I don't have to kill the plan just because of that! This is a huge step for me because I am such a perfectionist. Usually one slip and I quit because I don't want to fail any worse. Oh, and I didn't drink enough water.

Wednesday ~ Day 4~

Lunch: 1 c spaghetti pasta, 1/2 c spaghetti sauce

Snacks: 6 oz yogurt, 3 oz hard pretzels

Day 2 didn't go as well as I was hoping. When I came home from the workout, I was upset to see that my husband, though he started making dinner, did not take care of other things I had asked of him. When I am not home, things don't get done! Also, planning to have my favorite meal on the second day of my new diet? Not a good idea... I pigged out. Way too many carbs! But it's ok, because if I scold myself and make myself feel guilty, I will be in for a rougher time of it. Instead, I know that slipping now and again is not a problem. Now if it were to happen every day, there would be a problem! But to entirely change my life in one day, well we knew that wasn't going to happen!

Yesterday I also took Nyquil. It has been 12 hours and my brain is still in a fog. Not good.

Yesterday was not such a good day, but it was an important day. Usually when I am starting a new diet, it ends on the first day like yesterday. I'm a perfectionist, and if I think I am even near close to not doing well enough on a project, I will attempt to abandon ship. But, even though I didn't do well yesterday, I am still going to keep up with my plan. I made sure to pack my gym back before going to bed last night, and I made sure I put it in the car this morning. So that is all set. I just can't let a little setback determine my entire future.

Thanks for your cheers, by the way! It helps to know that someone is pulling for me. Hopefully today I will feel more awake, too.
