Poor Dh
I just got back from CVS. I had to pick up Mike's prescriptions for his colonoscopy on Thursday. Talk about a party in a bag!
 He's got Dulcolax, that clean-out-your-poop-shute drink, and phenergan that he has to take tomorrow. Plus no solids all day tomorrow so we're having steak tonight as his last meal. Then I have the fridge stocked with jello, apple juice, chicken broth and gatorade for him to take to work with him tomorrow. Poor guy, I feel bad but he needs the test.

Oh it sucks! I've had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and man do you poop with that stuff! Hope he gets great results!

Oh Sarah,
Your Dh isn't taking that drink and then trying to go to work is he??? If so, he may want to rethink that one. I worked with a hygienist who has to have one of these done every other year. She tried to come to work while also trying to clean herself out. Needless to say, it just didn't work and she ended up going home. I hope Mike's test goes well.

 He does know that he will be pooping liquids constantly, right? I mean Hershey squirts all day long!  And they gave him anti-nausea Phenergan? They must really be trying to do a number to that poor boy!

My DH did NOT go to work when he had to drink that stuff. He couldn't even leave the bathroom.

He just has to take the dulcolax while he's at work. He's taken that before and I don't think it made him have to go urgently. Luckily he doesn't have to do the drink until he gets home from work. He's wanting to take a TV and his PS2 in the bathroom so he's set to spend the night in there! They said the phenergan is only in case the drink makes him nauseaus. I don't know, I guess we'll see how it goes. He's all bummed because tomorrow is the day that his company buys them all Chick- Fil-A for breakfast and he can't have any this week.

Good for him for getting the test and going through all that! My uncle was just recently diagnosed with colon cancer and is having 80% of his colon removed next month. He's not that old and I bet this was his first test even though colon cancer runs in the family.
I hope your DH comes back with a clean bill of health and the peace of mind that he did everything necessary to take care of himself and his family. with all that hassle, I am so proud of my dad, my uncle, and your DH for stepping up and taking care of themselves.

I feel so sorry for your DH. But it has to be done..... for a good reason.  I will never take Dulcolax ever again...ever. I had to take it to empty myself out for a x-ray and I thought my insides were going to come out I was in sooooooooo much pain...never again.  I hope the colonoscopy goes well. My dad had it done and he said it wasnt too bad. Tell him too just  everything will be O.K

Thanks girls! He's having it done for a pain in his lower abdomen. They told him at the ER a few months ago it was a kidney stone but when he saw a urologist he said it wasn't. Well, the pain is still there so he saw a gastrointestinal doc and they order the colonoscopy. I hope there's nothing there, but it would be nice to diagnose and treat the pain he's having too.
