Since Monday I've had this crappy cold. It intensified and on Wednesday I was all-out miserable. Then, to make matters worse, my husband gave me the stomach virus that laid him out on Tuesday. So, I spent Thursday through Saturday throwing up, with diarrhea, a fever, chills, body aches, joint pain, sore throat, horrible headache and a bunch of nasal drama with made the nausea even worse. Lovely, eh? I've lost some more weight, and I'm back to being under my pre-preg weight again. *sigh*
It's hard not to worry about it now since my midwife told me I should be gaining a pound a week now. But, I'm on the mend, as it's been a full 24 hours without vomiting and I've been able to eat all day today. Ugh!
It seems like everyone is sick. I think this is the worst cold/flu season I've seen in awhile. How's everyone else doing?
Oh Stephanie, I hope you are feeling much better soon! That does not sound like fun at all. I am avoiding sick people like there is no tomorrow. People have been coming in to work looking like death warmed over, seriously, they're gonna come in sick so they don't have to take a sick day, get me sick, and then either I take a sick day (and don't get paid cuz I'm part time) or come in with lousy productivity. Sickness... do not share.
I was worried early on about my weight too and my midwife said not to worry especially early on. During wartimes and famine they found that women who went hungry early in the pregnancy had almost no effects on their babies but women who were caught in the famine at the end of the pregnancy had more complications. One week of being sick isn't likely to hurt the baby, especially if you get well and continue to eat all those good baby building foods you would normally eat.
I was sick for about two weeks just recently. On top of that, friends actually came to visit while THEY were sick. I handed each a face mask, told them that my immune system sucks because of pregnancy, and made it clear that if they value their lives, they won't visit while sick ever again. Meh.
If you're not using a humidifier yet, consider doing so -- particularly at night. It definitely helped me breathe. *hugs again*

I changed from an Ob/Gyn to a midwife with my first pregnancy and never looked back. I love the care I receive with them.
Unfortunately, I am sick AGAIN! Ugh! It's a chest cold and I have a terrible sore throat and lost my voice completely. Seriously.... I'm just SO done with this. When I'm not pregnant, I am a very healthy woman! I get a cold maybe once a year. This is ridiculous! I realize that my immune system isn't the best during pregnancy and that this is cold/flu season, but must I catch everything???
I coughed so hard today I peed my pants. I was actually like choking on phlegm. Lovely, eh? :(
