They got the idea from a restaurant owner in Switzerland:

consequently he yanked his idea to use human breast milk in his dishes: Restaurant drops plan to cook with breast milk
This part especially angers me so bad:

The idea first came to me when I noticed that there were many young mothers in our village, some of them single," he said. "I thought to myself: why not make use of their potential? I served the meals to my friends without telling them about the new ingredient and the feedback was excellent."

What a jerk!! Make use of their potential??!?! I would be highly offended is some man came up to me and wanted me to "make use of my potential". And if a friend of mine ever unknowingly slipped me any body fluid I would be enraged if I found out!!
I don't know how PETA expects B&J to do this. I know with milk banks donors have a list of questions they have to answer before they are considered suitable and their milk is tested, tested, and tested again. And there is strict criteria in how it is stored, how long it's kept, and how it's transported...not to mention breast milk for milk banks is expensive! I also find it ironic that PETA has such strong feelings about animals but not about the mothers that would be pumping their breast milk, the safety of the breast milk, and the safety of the people that would consume the breast milk, and how they feel about potentially taking breast milk away from babies. Breast milk is slightly different at different stages so I would also be curious to know how PETA expects B&Js to work around that. Obviously no one at PETA knows how strenuous it can be to be a breastfeeding and/or pumping mama, and what can be passed from bodily fluids, included medications that the breastfeeding mother is taking.
I think if breast milk goes anywhere it should go to babies, especially babies in need (milk banks) PERIOD.
