I think it will help if I start a journal, writing down my thoughts as I attempt to get into shape. I started yesterday, 5/15, and it wasn't so bad. I really am in the mindset that I'm going to do this, and I HAVE to do this if I want to feel good about getting into a dress. Plus, I need to be healthy. I don't want Kirra growing up knowing me as a "fat" person. I want her to think her Mom takes good care of herself and is concerned with her health. I want Kirra to grow up knowing about eating right and exercising to keep healthy. My Mom, who is very small and thin, has recently developed diabetes. My paternal G-ma had diabetes, my maternal G-pa has diabetes...2 of my Aunts and Uncles on my Mom's side have developed diabetes. I hope to God I don't have their tendency to develop diabetes, but it doesn't help that I have not attempted to get rid of one of the most prevalent factors for diabetes--being overweight.
soooo...here I go! I went to the gym yesterday with Ryan. I did 30 min elliptical, 20 min bike, and lifted UE weights. I'm going to try to go to the gym 3x a week minimum, hopefully more like 5. I'm going to go in 20 lb increments, to see more of a progression. I know the 1st 20 lbs will be easy (yes, sad to say, I've done this a few times before

), I usually hit a plateau at about 30 lbs. At that point, I think I will meet with a personal trainer at the gym, so that I can get through that hump. I'm going to follow the WW plan, but not worry so much about counting points and such...if I go over a few points a day, I'm not going to worry. It's mostly about portion size and calories anyways.
I'm hoping to get to the gym today. We'll see. I was STARVING on my way home for lunch today...I had oatmeal at 7:30, but by 11:30 I was starting to get shaky...low blood sugar, yikes! That will get under control in a few days, though.
